Keyboard Studies
The Keyboard Studies program at the University of Central
Oklahoma offers students the opportunity to grow as a musician
with experienced and caring teachers. Students perform and
share ideas in various settings including solo, ensemble,
and master-classes with special artists/teachers. To enhance
their musical and technical growth, they can also study with
internationally renowned Artist-in-Residence, Dr. Valery Kuleshov,
the 1998 Van Cliburn Silver Medalist. Piano Literature and
Piano Pedagogy, taught by Fulbright Scholar Dr. Chindarat
Charoenwongse Shaw, are parts of the curriculum for the pianists/teachers
of the twenty-first century. The goal of preparing effective
teachers includes hands-on experience and supervised student
teaching with readily accessible mentoring. UCO keyboard graduates
take pride in the quality enrichment they receive from their
scholarly and artistic experience.
